Seven Days
SEVEN DAYS
NORTHBRIDGE
"Seven Days"—a private retreat nestled in the lower ground of a 1940s sandstone post-war home in Northbridge, New South Wales.
Offbeat, rustic, and effortless—these were the guiding words behind our Seven Days project. This home has a beautiful story, one we were excited to help shape and evolve.
When we first met our clients, they had already begun their renovation, and some key elements—like the terrazzo floor, opaque glass bricks, and timber paneling—had already been chosen. But the project lacked a cohesive direction.
This is where our proven formula—‘3 Words and a Song’—came into play. It’s a method we use to draw out and identify our clients’ unique aesthetic and emotional connection to their space. Through this process, the words offbeat, rustic, and effortless emerged as the defining anchors for the project.
And the song? Seven Days by Sting. Its unconventional rhythm—layered and unexpected, yet completely harmonious—captured the essence of the home. The design evolved from this, and just like the song, it embraces contrast and unpredictability while maintaining an effortless flow.
Our approach focused on creating a home that feels lived-in, adaptable, and personal. We combined tactile, timeless materials with thoughtful detailing to ground the space while still leaving room for surprise and spontaneity. Every choice was about balancing the old and the new, the structured and the free-spirited.
